CPE Opportunities through the Academy’s eMentoring Program:
In addition to enhancing your career and expanding your professional network, participating in the Academy’s eMentoring program also gives you the opportunity to earn valuable continuing professional education (CPE).
Pre-Approved Self-Study Materials -- For Mentors and Mentees
Both mentors and mentees can receive CPE credit by reading the self-study exercises and completing the quiz. Individuals participating in this method must meet all provider requirements for the product (such as complying with deadlines, completing examinations, etc). Upon completion of the quiz, print your CPE Certificate.
Sponsored Independent Learning -- For Mentees
Mentees can now earn CPE by planning and carrying out Sponsored Independent Learning (SIL) activities with the aid of their mentor. To get started, first decide what dietetics-related field you would like your SIL to focus on, then:
- Search the eMentoring program for a mentor who is an expert in that field and contact them to establish an official match.
- Complete the Sponsored Independent Learning Contract and save it to your desktop. Your mentor will sign the contract when all of your interactions are complete. Keep the signed copy for your records.
- As you plan, remember that 1 CPEU is equivalent to 2 contact hours with your mentor/activities. During each 5-year recertification cycle, RD mentees can earn a maximum of 50 CPEU, while DTR mentees can earn a maximum of 35 CPEU.
